Woman Spared by Serial Killer Confronted Him Decades Later to Ask Why He Didn't Kill Her, Stunned by Truth
Someone rarely survives to tell the tale after encountering a serial killer. Alice Feiring is one of the few people who belong to this category, LADBible reported. She reportedly came face-to-face with Rodney Alcala, a serial killer also known as 'Dating Game Killer.'
She gave him every opportunity to kill her as a naive 14-year-old but in a surprising turn of events he did not, according to her admission. Years later she met the then-convicted killer to ask him the reason behind this bizarre call.
Feiring claims that she was in a New York bookshop when Alcala introduced himself as Jon Burger to her, LADBible reported. The meeting was just months after the serial killer had lured an 8-year-old into his apartment and beaten her to a coma in 1969. She allegedly felt uncomfortable by his presence, but as a 14-year-old did not understand how to get out of the situation.
The girl came out of the bookshop and allegedly had Burger on her trail, LADBible reported. He asked her if she would agree to take some pictures. Feiring felt confused and agreed. In her words, she "didn't know I had a right to say no."
They reportedly went to the roof of his building to click the pictures, after which he 'violently' requested her to help carry the equipment to this apartment. Alcala gave her photos of women in concerning positions to pack, which supposedly raised her suspicions.
The apartment was 'terrifyingly wrong,' according to Feiring, and she ran out when Alcala went to the bathroom, The Cut reported. After she was out of the building, she realized that she left the book in her hand, at the apartment. She decided to go back and fetch it.
The woman to this date is stunned that she committed "this epic stupidity," which could have very well led to her death. She knocked on the door, and Alcala opened it. To her surprise, the man returned the book, and she made a run for it. The man was screaming, "Just let me masturbate, I won't hurt you", according to Feiring as she ran for her life.
Feiring was allegedly shocked when she got to know that Alcala had been linked with eight murders by authorities, LADBible reported. He was arrested in 1979, a decade after the 'meeting' with Feiring. Media gave him the moniker 'Dating Game Killer' because of his appearance in a dating show.
Officials believe that his number of killings could be around 130. For decades, Feiring felt relieved but also confused, as to why she was spared while others died such brutal deaths. In 2013, Feiring got the opportunity to ask him this question face-to-face. The man did not give her an answer.
Alcala told her, how he was not as brutal with his victims as the police claimed, and also how he enjoyed his years in New York, LADBible reported. But never gave her the reason, why he chose not to kill her. The killer died in 2021, after being on death row for multiple years. Ultimately Feiring had to make peace with the fact that she 'just got lucky' with Alcala.
