A lawyer's trust in his window glasses became the cause of his death. Garry Hoy was a well-respected lawyer working for the Toronto law firm Holden-Day Wilson, UNILAD reported. Along with laws, the man was also interested in buildings and peculiarly fascinated with the windows on the 24th floor of his office building. He told his colleagues and acquaintances, that the glass in the window is so strong that it can withstand the weight of a man without breaking.

Hoy's fascination with buildings was cultivated by his engineering degree, LADBible reported. The man had studied in detail the subjects of building safety and compliance, and during his analysis had grown to appreciate the state-of-the-art skyscraper, where he worked.

Hoy routinely boasted to his acquaintances regarding the strength of the window glasses on the 24th floor, UNILAD reported. To prove his point, Hoy used to throw himself on the window in front of any group he was entertaining. The 'unbreakable' glass lived up to the appreciation bestowed by Hoy on them, until July 9, 1993.

Hoy was in the conference room along with the new intake of summer interns, UNILAD reported. He again decided to show off the strength of the window and decided to perform his trick. The man threw himself at the window, and the interns were pleasantly charmed by the fact that the window lived up to its reputation. The second time though filled the interns with horror

Hoy repeated his trick, but this time the frame fell out and with it the man, UNILAD reported. The lawyer crashed on the land, after falling down 24 floors. He died on the spot.

An anonymous structural engineer was astounded that nobody ever stopped Hoy from performing this trick. "I don’t know of any building code in the world that would allow a 160-pound man to run up against a glass window and withstand it," they said.

Hoy was a beloved personality amongst his peers, UNILAD reported. He was remembered as 'one of the best and brightest' at the firm by his coworkers. Ultimately, though his assertion was not wrong. The glass never broke, it was the frame that held the glass in place that came out and led to Hoy's demise.
