In 2022, researchers noted something extraordinary in the depths of the Pacific Ocean, just north of the Hawaiian Islands. Experts expect waves, tides, and aquatic beings inside the ocean, but a particular team was shocked when they noted a 'yellow brick road' amidst the largest ocean in the world, Science Alert reported.

The discovery was made by the team aboard the exploration vessel Nautilus. The experts were surveying the Liliʻuokalani ridge within Papahānaumokuākea Marine National Monument (PMNM) when their eyes went on the distinctive pavement. Their reaction was caught on camera, and the organization posted a highlight reel on YouTube.

The team was analyzing the various materials on the ridge at Nootka Seamount when one of them noticed the yellow road. All the experts were taken aback and shifted their attention to the discovery. One scientist exclaimed that they could be on the "road to Atlantis." Another one said that the whole experience feels like they are on "Mount Vesuvius" excavating for new things.

It was evident that the whole team was excited at this sighting. On a closer look, they made their initial guess that the 'yellow' road was made of bricks. Researchers added that it seemed like the path had been crushed by something.

In the caption of the video, the organization further shared its analysis regarding the fractures. They wrote, "The unique 90-degree fractures are likely related to heating and cooling stress from multiple eruptions at this baked margin."

The team identified the road as a fractured flow of hyaloclastite rock, The Sacramento Bee reported. The 90-degree fractures spotted on the 'road' likely happened due to heating and cooling stress from multiple eruptions at the baked margins of the structure. The finding captivated viewers all across the world, indicated by the fact that the video has raked in around four million views, in the last two years.
