The Great Pyramid of Giza Has More Than Four Sides, Research Reveals It’s a 'Concave Octagonal Pyramid'
Only a few places in the world can rival the Great Pyramid of Giza in popularity. Every detail about the UNESCO World Heritage site has been analyzed and publicized on a large scale. Yet many are shocked when they hear about the pyramid being octagonal, LADBible reported. The general consideration is that the Gaza pyramid has four sides, with every edge having multiple faces.
The Great Pyramid of Giza was constructed for Pharaoh Khufu and completed around 2560 B.C.E, Architectural Digest reported. It is the only original Seven Wonders of the World still intact. The monument is located outside Cairo and is a necropolis of royal tombs. There are three towering and three small pyramids and an enormous statue of a sphinx near it.
From appearance, the Great Pyramid of Giza appears to be a four-sided affair, LAD Bible reported. But in reality, it has eight sides. This marvel is a result of the structure's construction.
"In the Great Pyramid, the packing blocks were laid in such a way that they sloped slightly inwards towards the center of each course, with a result that a noticeable depression runs down the middle of each face; a peculiarity shared, as far as is known, by no other pyramid," Egyptologist, I. E. S. Edwards, explained regarding the monument's construction.
Academic researcher, Akio Kato, verified the fact in her study, LAD Bible reported. "The Great Pyramid at Giza is known to have an amazing character of concavity that each of its four faces is slightly indented along its central line, from base to peak," Kato stated.
"In other words, the Great Pyramid is a concave octagonal pyramid, rather than the standard square pyramid." She further added that the concavity is so subtle, that it cannot be observed from land. The phenomenon is only visible through the air.
The four main sides look inwards and come together in the middle, Discovery reported. Researchers are yet to understand the reason behind the four main sides facing inward, and coming together in the middle.
According to experts, the pyramid's four sides are split from top to bottom by subtle concave indentations, Discovery reported. This feature was first observed by a British Air Force pilot named P. Groves. He was flying over the pyramid and located some uncanny shadows around the monument. The man clicked the photographs and sent them to experts. Researchers believe that these indentation reflections occur at certain points during the spring and autumn equinoxes.
Multiple conspiracy theorists looking at the photos felt that the pyramid was built for a unique purpose by ancient Egyptians, Discovery reported. They postulated that the structure was built to form a connection with extraterrestrial beings.
