Zelenskyy Says Attack on Kursk Has Putin Running Scared: 'He's Afraid, Very Much'
Ukraine's offensive against Russia in Kursk, made the whole world stop and notice. The military action by Ukraine showed its capabilities, in sustaining against the comparatively large Russian forces. Ukrainian President, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, further claims that the invasion has put fear in the mind of President Vladimir Putin, HuffPost reported.
In August, Ukraine forces launched a surprise attack on the Russian territory of Kursk and managed to occupy it. Russian authorities have not been able to push Ukraine's troops out of Kursk. Instead, they have continued with their efforts in Ukraine's Donbas region.
In September, when asked about Russia's response to the attack in Kursk, Putin stated, "The enemy’s goal was to make us nervous and worry and to transfer troops from one sector to another and stop our offensive in key areas, primarily in the Donbas. Did it work? No."
Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelenskyy does not believe this statement to be true, Good Morning America reported. He added that the Kursk attack made Putin nervous because his country witnessed the strength of its enemies. Zelenskyy claimed about his rival, "He’s afraid, very much. Why? Because his people saw that he can’t defend – that he can’t defend all of his territory."
Zelenskyy's next objective is getting the support of the U.S. for his 'victory plan', Good Morning America reported. Zelenskyy was in the U.S. as part of the United Nations General Assembly where he was to present his proposition to President Joe Biden and other key American political leaders.
Zelenskyy believes that his country's measures can soon bring an end to the two-and-a-half-year-long struggle. "I think we are closer to peace than we think. We are closer to the end of the war. We just have to be very strong, very strong," he stated.
