An 11-year-old Florida boy has been arrested after police said he allegedly shot and killed a 55-year-old relative.

Around 8 a.m. on May 17, officers were called to a home in Ocoee and found Sandra Pape King with a gunshot wound, according to court documents obtained by WESH.

King was transported to a local hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

The victim reportedly was shot inside the home where she and the young boy both lived.

One neighbor of the pair told WESH they heard screaming and saw King on the ground in the driveway after she stumbled out of the home following the shooting.

On May 18, an attorney for the boy waived his client's appearance in juvenile court, according to WFTV, which reported a cousin asked the judge to allow family to see the shooting suspect.

“He biologically is my cousin. My mom has been his guardian since he was 6 weeks old," the cousin reportedly told the court, adding the boy “doesn’t understand what’s going on." The cousin added, "I don't even think he knows he killed her.”

The judge granted permission for loved ones to visit the boy at the juvenile detention center, where he will remain at least until his next court date.

Officials said it’s unclear what charges the boy will face. Police reportedly have not indicated what led to the shooting.
