An 11-year-old Florida boy was placed under arrest and two 13-year-olds are in the hospital after a shooting occurred at a football practice, according to authorities.
Around 8:30 p.m. on Oct. 2, officers responded regarding a possible shooting at Field of Fame in Apopka, WESH reported.
According to police, the three juveniles got into an altercation on the field while their youth football team practiced. The fight reportedly began when food was slapped from the younger boy’s hands, WESH reported.
The 11-year-old boy then went to his mother’s car, grabbed an unsecured gun and started shooting at the other two in the parking lot, officials said.
One of the boys was hit in the arm and the other was hit in the torso, police said.
The boys were transported to a nearby hospital, where they were listed in stable condition.
The 11-year-old boy was arrested and charged with attempted second-degree murder, authorities said.
WESH reported Apopka Police Chief Mike McKinley said the suspect is only facing one count of attempted second-degree murder because he doesn’t feel it’s necessary “to stack charges upon an 11-year-old with no criminal history."

McKinley described the suspect as “very quiet and shy” and “looking very somber.”
The mother of the 11-year-old may face charges for leaving the weapon accessible, officials said.
