Boy, 12, Accused of Stabbing Houston Woman with Mental Health Issues After Argument in Driveway: Police
March 26 2024, Published 2:07 p.m. ET
A Houston woman was found stabbed in her garage and now police say a 12-year-old boy has been charged with assault.
Around 2 p.m. on March 23, surveillance camera footage from a neighbor shows two boys, 12 and 7 years old, with their bikes, apparently having an argument with the 59-year-old woman, who suffers from mental health issues, according to court documents obtained by KHOU.
Officials said another neighbor told the boys to leave, and they did. However, about 10 minutes later, the boys returned, now wearing gloves.
In the video, the older boy appears to remove something out of his pants and charge at the victim inside her garage. Then he runs away with the 7-year-old boy.
The victim was later found in her garage by her brother, who regularly checks on her, authorities said.
She was life-flighted to the hospital and underwent surgery, officials said. Her nephew told KTRK that she was in critical condition after surgery and the family is monitoring her condition.

According to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, the older boy has been charged with aggravated assault with serious bodily injury.
In Texas, a child must be 10 years old to be culpable of a serious crime, so the younger boy won’t be charged. Officials said Child Protective Services had been notified.

“Never did any of us think that it was going to be kids from the neighborhood that came in and attacked her,” a neighbor told KHOU. “If they have the ability to go and do that to an older woman who clearly has mental issues after our neighbor down the road tells them, ‘Hey, leave her alone,’ it’s a concern.”
