A 17-year-old boy working at a restaurant in Tennessee was attacked by a group of four people after he tried to seat their large group at separate tables, according to authorities.

On July 25, the teen host was trying to help a group of customers with a table at Cheddar’s Scratch Kitchen in Cordova, WHBQ-TV reported.

The eatery was busy at the time and there was a long wait to be seated. In order to avoid a longer wait, the teen offered to split the group of 8 into two tables, according to WHBQ-TV.

The group was unhappy with the option and allegedly said they preferred a bigger table and left the restaurant.

The group, however, returned and demanded a bigger table. That is when one of the suspects, later identified as 30-year-old Darius Brantley, confronted the teenager and punched him in the face, police said.

The teen told WHBQ-TV, “His whole family started coming toward me, jumping me. And after that is when I blacked out. Don’t remember nothing.”

The group left the restaurant in a large white SUV, authorities said.

On July 28, police announced the arrest of Brittany Brantley, 31; Carol Brantley, 50; Darius Brantley; and Kaitlin Brantley, 23. They were each charged with aggravated assault.

In a statement to WHBQ-TV, Cheddar said, “We are shocked and saddened by this senseless act of violence against our team member. Violence has no place in our restaurant and we are cooperating fully with the police investigation.”
