A 79-year-old Michigan woman who used to work as a middle school paraprofessional has been arrested for allegedly sending inappropriate messages to a minor via social media, according to authorities.
The Michigan State Police announced they launched an investigation last September after a child, whose name and age were not disclosed, reported that a woman was allegedly texting and Snapchatting inappropriate things.
State police said the minor, who was interviewed at the Children’s Advocacy Center in Traverse City, knew the suspect, identified as Sue Ann Asch from Kalkaska.
Asch retired from her job at Kalkaska Middle School in September 2023, Kalkaska Public Schools Superintendent Rick Heitmeyer told WBPN.
Heitmeyer said Asch had worked for the school district since 2012.
During their investigation, state police said they seized multiple electronic devices from Asch’s home and they secured a warrant for her arrest early last month.
After Asch learned about the warrant, she reportedly surrendered to police the same day, officials said.
