Honolulu, Hawaii police asked for the public’s help in the disappearance of 18-month-old Kytana Ancog. She was last seen with her father, Travis Rodrigues, 40, who went missing along with her ten days ago.

Police found Rodrigues around noon Feb. 13 and charged later that afternoon. The Honolulu Police Department arrested a second suspect, a 48-year-old man, on suspicion of second-degree murder later that evening.

Rodrigues, 40, served federal prison time after multiple convictions, including felony drug and weapons charges, according to the Honolulu Star Advertiser. He has used the alias “Travis Heffelinger (or Heffelfinger).”

Shortly after he was taken into custody, police identified Scott M. Carter as a second suspect.

The FBI assisted the Honolulu Police Department in the investigation.

On Jan. 31st, Kytana’s mother Ashley dropped the little girl off to spend time with Rodrigues, her father. The 18-month-old was in good health when she was taken to Rodrigues’ Kaulainahee Place, according to media reports.

The girl’s grandmother, Lisa Mora, has been searching for her granddaughter since filing a missing person’s report on Feb. 10.

“She is a happy, bright, normal child. She is always curious, playing and laughing. She loves music, playing with the dogs. It’s hard because she’s really trusting,” reported Ms. Mora to the Honolulu Star Advertiser.

As the days passed, Mora, who allowed Ashley and her granddaughter to move in last March, began posting photos on Facebook and urged people to contact CrimeStoppers if there were any sightings of the little girl. Ashley and Kytana moved out of Ms. Mora’s home in early January 2021.

On Feb. 12, the Honolulu police issued a search warrant at Rodrigues’ home. Police have not given details, but within hours of his arrest Carter was identified and taken into custody, according to the Star Advertiser.

Honolulu police issued a press release stating, “On Saturday, February 13, 2021, at approximately 12:30 p.m., HPD officers located Rodrigues in the Ko’olina area. Rodrigues was later placed under arrest for Murder in the Second Degree. Charges are pending.”

Officials have not yet located the toddler’s body.
