A woman has been arrested and charged with kidnapping a newborn baby from his crib, police said.
Lakesha Brown, 37, was charged with first-degree kidnapping and was booked into the Jefferson County Jail on Aug. 24, according to CBS 42.
Kamarion Deshawn Taylor, who was born last week, was taken from his home in the 600 block of Jerry D. Coleman Street in Fairfax, Alabama, just before 2 p.m, CBS 42 reported.
Police say the mother had put Kamarion in his crib while she took a nap. When she woke up, he was gone, according to CBS 42.
Family members told WBRC 6 that Brown befriended the boy’s mother, and they believe she plotted for days to take the child.
By 7:30 p.m. that night, Kamarion had been safely found and returned to his mother, CBS 42 reported.
