Man mowing his lawn hit and killed by a Corvette driver, who is now in cuffs, cops say

A man who drove a Corvette into a man mowing his lawn, killing him instantly, has been booked in to jail on a murder charge.
Investigators say Calvin Dale Brewer, 54, was behind the wheel of a 1978 Corvette on Aug. 22 when he lost control of the car and struck and killed Heath Byrd, FOX 10 reported.
Byrd was on his lawnmower cutting grass in front of his home in Mobile, Alabama, when he was hit by Brewer’s vehicle, according to FOX 10.
According to court documents obtained by FOX 10, Brewer was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash.

Brewer’s son was in the car with him when he wrecked and was thrown from the vehicle as it rolled over, a firefighter told FOX 10.
Investigators have not released details about the son’s condition, according to FOX 10.
Brewer was released from the hospital on Aug. 24 and taken to Mobile County Metro Jail on a murder charge, FOX 10 reported.
