Ex-Cop 'Intentionally' Caused His Pregnant Wife To Have A Miscarriage, Now Faces Murder Charges: Authorities

A former police officer is accused of assaulting a woman who later had a miscarriage, and now he faces a murder charge, police say.
In March, police in Dothan, Alabama, responded to a domestic violence incident. The victim told police that she was assaulted by Robert Allen Maddox Jr.
Police did not say what led to the alleged assault, but they arrested Maddox and charged him with domestic violence — strangulation at that time.
The victim was pregnant with their child during the alleged assault, police said. Maddox is alleged to have intentionally caused the victim to miscarry the child, police said.
Media reports indicated the victim was Maddox's wife and that he is a former police officer.
Last week, police charged Maddox with murder.
He is being held in jail on $1.5 million bond.
