A former child’s minister faces more than 200 charges of possession of child pornography, authorities announced.
This week, police in Rainsville, Alabama, arrested Steve Robert Wukmer, 66, on 215 counts of possession of child pornography.
The investigation started in early November after police got a tip, according to police. Investigators also learned that Wukmer is a former child’s minister in Ohio, but it’s unclear if there was any misconduct for similar behavior.
Police arrested Wukmer and booked him into an Alabama jail.
Officials seized various electronic devices from his home during the investigation.
“I am disgusted that someone could be doing this sort of thing here in Rainsville, but unfortunately, I’m also not surprised,” Rainsville police Chief Michael Edmondson said. "We in law enforcement are seeing more and more of this terrible act, even locally. I am so proud of our police department for jumping on this investigation and getting it done quickly to protect the kids in our community.”
