Philadelphia 16-Year-Old Accused Of Murdering Another Teenager In Ambush Shooting
A teenager in Philadelphia faces a murder charge as an adult after he allegedly killed a juvenile who was walking down a city street, according to police.
On Oct. 5, police took Tahjeir Thompson, 16, into custody in connection with a deadly shooting late last month in the Kingessing section of the city.
Around 5 p.m. on Sept. 29, two teenagers, ages 14 and 16, were walking when the suspect, who lives in the area, allegedly got out of a vehicle and shot at the pair, WTXF-TV reported.
The older teenager, Sincere Thomas, was struck in the head during the ambush shooting, and he died the following day, according to Metro Philadelphia.
The 14-year-old was hit in the left side of his body and was listed in critical condition, the publication reported.
In addition to the murder count, authorities also charged Thompson with criminal conspiracy, aggravated assault, and other related offenses.
“There are far too many young people in our city who believe that the only way to settle a conflict is by using a gun,” Police Commissioner Danielle Outlaw said about the shooting.
