A shooting outside a New York apartment building left one man dead and another behind bars, authorities said.
Dontay Horning, 20, allegedly shot and killed 24-year-old Kaeron Henderson in Utica just after midnight on Nov. 20, Syracuse.com reported.
Horning was arrested the following day and charged with second-degree murder and second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, police said.
According to law enforcement officials, a witness was at a convenience store near the apartment complex and heard gunshots.
The witness drove to the area from the store and phoned 911 after discovering Henderson lying wounded in the grass. Police have not detailed what led to the shooting.
Horning was being held at the Oneida County jail.
Officials said the investigation is ongoing and detectives are trying to identify other individuals who were at the scene when Henderson was shot.
