Two women are accused of scamming a special-needs victim out of his wallet, police said.
Last week, police in Scottsdale, Arizona, announced the arrest of Pearl Mitchell and Paradise Adams in connection to the case. Both of the suspects are 18 years old.
Police said the incident happened as the victim was working at a grocery on Sept. 25.
As the victim worked, he was approached in the parking lot by the two suspects, police said.
They convinced him to give his wallet for a non-working iPhone, police said. The suspects then used the victim’s debit card to make more than $700 worth of purchases.
Investigators identified the suspects, and both were arrested in Phoenix earlier this month. Authorities said both women knew the victims had special-needs before they approached him in the parking lot.
