“Chief McCrory praised the fast response of school officials and staff in responding to this situation and bringing a quick resolution to what could have resulted in a very serious situation,” the department in a news release, according to CBS 5.
Authorities say they don't have reason to believe the teen had planned to fire the gun on school grounds. They said it's unclear why he had it with him. Police say students were not in any immediate danger.
Antone is being housed in Pinal County jail for weapon misconduct.
