An Arizona woman has been arrested after deputies said they found a 93-year-old man deceased.
Around 10 p.m. on Feb. 16, deputies were dispatched to a residence in Cordes Lake after receiving a request for a welfare check on Carl Miller, according to the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office.
An acquaintance of Miller reportedly called the sheriff’s office after they had not spoken to or seen him in several days.
At the residence, officers encountered Miller's roommate, 59-year-old Bridget Nelson.
She claimed to police that Miller went out of town, but she did not know where. A deputy then spoke with the person who called and they said Miller’s truck was still in the driveway, and the vehicle was reportedly “inoperable.”
Deputies returned to Miller’s house to speak with Nelson again, but she did failed to answer the door. Officers said they then looked through a window and spotted a “man lying on the ground motionless.”
Nelson exit the home after multiple commands from police.
Police entered the residence and found Miller, who it was determined had been dead for at least a day.
Based on evidence, investigators said Miller “had died a violent death" and "his wounds indicating foul play.”
