2-month-old found dead Christmas morning in Arkansas, mom and boyfriend charged
On Christmas morning, police responded to an unresponsive infant who was found dead. Weeks later, two adults face charges in connection to the death.
Deputies from the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office in Arkansas responded to a report on an unresponsive child on Dec. 25. When deputies arrived, they found a 2-month-old child dead, according to the sheriff’s office.
An autopsy revealed the child had “severe injuries,” which led to the death.
The sheriff’s office did not reveal the nature of the injuries or how the child was hurt.
This week, police say they arrested the child’s mother and her boyfriend in connection to the death. Megan Ward, 21, was charged with first-degree murder and first-degree endangering the welfare of a minor. Nighton Collier, 26, was charged with hindering apprehension and failure to appear.
The two were booked into Johnson County jail. Ward’s bond was set at $1 million, while Collier’s was set at $10,000.
