A man has been arrested after he allegedly chased and rammed another vehicle, causing a crash that killed another driver.
Daniel Robert Adams, 36, has been charged with first-degree murder, attempted murder and four counts of aggravated assault, according to the Baxter County Sheriff's Office in Arkansas.
Around 3:30 p.m. Oct. 6, the 911 call center in Baxter County received a call from a woman who stated she was being followed and chased by a man in another vehicle.
She said the suspect intentionally rammed the vehicle she was in, and that she knew the name of the driver of the other vehicle.
Sheriff’s deputies began to immediately respond to the area, but three minutes later, a deputy drove up to a two-vehicle crash between the cars that matched the vehicle descriptions from the call, according to the sheriff's office.
The driver of the victims’ vehicle, Phillip Patrick Laurie, 30, was found dead at the scene.
The female passenger, Danielle Ann Lamphear, 24, sustained serious injuries and was transferred by ambulance to a trauma center, according to the sheriff's office.
Adams was found at the scene and taken into custody. Police say he was driving the car that rammed the victim's vehicle before the wreck.
Adams was booked into the Baxter County Detention Center, after which he was transferred to the Boone County Detention Center to be held there because the mother of the deceased works at Baxter County Detention Center.
He has a preliminary bond of $500,000 on these charges, and he will appear in court later this month.
