The son of a judge in Arkansas has been accused of killing his stepmother, according to reports.
Around noon on Aug. 1, police in Little Rock, Arkansas, responded to a home for an assault. When police arrived, they discovered a woman dead. Police did not offer details on how the victim was killed.
They describe the incident as domestic.
Police confirmed the victim was Cathy Smith, 71. They arrested her stepson Logan Smith, 34, on a first-degree murder charge. No motive was released in the killing.
Logan Smith is the son of a former Little Rock area judge, according to the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette. The judge was committed to mental health care months ago after threatening others and cutting a relative with a blade.
Weeks after being committee, Logan Smith agreed to treatment and his status was voluntary commitment.
