Army sergeant facing murder charge after his pregnant wife is found dead, cops say

An Army sergeant at Fort Campbell base has been charged with murder after his pregnant wife was found dead in their Kentucky home, officials said.
On Sept. 27, Meghan Santiago was found dead inside their home, which was on the Fort Campbell, Kentucky, base, a spokesperson told WZTV.
According to authorities, Sgt. 1st Class Joseph Santiago, 33, was arrested on Sept. 28 in connection to the death of his wife.
WZTV reported that Santiago, who is a signal support systems specialist with the 5th Special Forces Group at Fort Campbell, was booked into the Grayson County Jail pending the investigation by the U.S. Army Criminal Division.
Col. Brent Lindeman, commander of 5th Special Forces Group, said in a statement to WZTV, “Meghan’s death is a tragedy. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family and friends. This tragic event has shaken our entire unit. We take all allegations of domestic violence seriously, and we will provide every resource to ensure a thorough investigation.”
WZTV stated no further information would be released regarding this case, per Army officials. That included a possible motive and how the wife was killed.
A source told Stars & Stripes that victim had a brain stem injury that left her on life support.
