A mother in Nashville was arrested after she admitted to police that she left her child unattended while she tried to run out and grab her wallet after a night of drinking, according to authorities.

Around 4:20 a.m. on Nov. 25, Malaisha Madave, 23, arrived home in Nashville following a night of drinking, according to an arrest report obtained by WSMV.

Madave then allegedly realized she had forgotten her wallet, so she went out to retrieve it, the document states.

When she got back around an hour later, her 3-year-old son was missing, according to the report.

Around 6:30 a.m., officers arrived to Madave's home and brought her in for questioning, during which she allegedly admitted to leaving the child home alone, police said.

Officers were able to locate the missing child in a parking lot a mile away from his home, according to the report. The child was wearing pajamas but had no shoes on at the time, officials said.

Madave was arrested and charged with child neglect, according to authorities.

She was being held on a $5,000 bond.
