Suspects Arrested In Connection To Double Homicide Of Texas Father And Son Found Bound, Shot: Sheriff
Two men are in custody in connection to the murders of a father and son in Texas who were dumped on a road at the end of last year, authorities announced Wednesday.
On Dec. 29, a passerby in Cameron County discovered the bodies of Ines Cruz, 49, and 24-year-old Manuel Cruz in Cameron County.
“Once our investigators got here, they realized that the two individuals were actually deceased with apparent gunshot wounds to their heads,” Cameron County Sheriff Eric Garza said at the time, KRGV reported. “They were bound and gagged. Their hands were tied, so were their feet, and they had tape over their mouth.”
Days later, on Jan. 3, Garza said they arrested Cesar Olvera in connection to the case and charged him with two counts of aggravated kidnapping with a deadly weapon and one count of tampering with evidence.
The sheriff said during the course of the investigation detectives also identified a second suspect in the case, Lawrence James Strong.
Stong was apprehended in Wisconsin on March 13 and extradited to Cameron County, where he faces two counts each of murder and aggravated kidnapping with a deadly weapon, and one count of tampering with evidence, the sheriff’s office said.
