Atlanta woman charged with murder after shooting man in head inside apartment, cops say

An Atlanta man was found fatally shot in the head inside an apartment and now police have charged a 20-year-old woman with his murder, according to authorities.

Around 5:30 a.m. Aug. 14, officers were sent to an apartment in Atlanta and found the victim with a gunshot wound to the head, the Atlanta Police Department stated.

The victim was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, officials said.

Very few details have been released regarding what led to the fatal shooting, but the Atlanta Police Department determined Andrea Simpson, 20, was a suspect in the shooting.

On Aug. 14, warrants were issued for Simpson, officials said.

Simpson was arrested on Aug. 21 and was taken to Atlanta police headquarters for an interview before they booked her into the Fulton County Jail, police said.

She has been charged with murder, as well as possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, authorities said.
