Louisiana Man Already In Custody For Attempted Murder Charge Now Accused Of Fatal Shooting, Sheriff Says
A man in Louisiana already in custody for an attempted murder in early September is now linked to a homicide that occurred weeks later, authorities said.
Jyairus Folse, 20, faces a charge of second-degree murder in connection with the fatal shooting of 37-year-old Lorenzo Stuart of Lockport on September 24, the Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office said, WWL-TV reported.
Around 11:30 that evening, deputies responded to a report of shots fired. “When they arrived, they found a man, later identified as Stuart, had been shot,” Sheriff Craig Webre said. “He was later pronounced dead.”
Detectives developed Folse as a suspect in the case and obtained a warrant for his arrest, according to the sheriff.
Folse was arrested on Sept. 29 in connection with a targeted shooting at a residence in Raceland on Sept. 8, the sheriff’s office said.
In that case, Folse was charged with attempted second-degree murder, illegal possession of a stolen firearm, possession of marijuana, taking contraband to a penal institution, and contempt of court.
He is being held without bail.
