On Sept. 2, a witness called San Antonio police to report a group of men had broken into the apartment of his brother, 21-year-old Daniel Maleik Murphy, and were holding him at gunpoint, an affidavit obtained by KSAT states.

Murphy was shot inside his apartment as police responded to the apartment complex, and authorities detained three suspects at the scene, according to the affidavit.

One of two eyewitnesses to the alleged incident claimed Deveon Taylor-White was armed and forced the victim into his own apartment, police said in the affidavit.

A second eyewitness said Taylor-White then ordered a second suspect, who was later identified as 19-year-old Michael Lavelle Randle, to shoot the victim, according to police.

Deveon Taylor-White was arrested and charged with murder the day of Murphy’s slaying.

Randle was taken into custody and now faces the same charge. He was being held in lieu of $200,000 bond at the Bexar County jail.
