AUTOPSY REVEALS INSTAGRAM INFLUENCER ALEXIS SHARKEY'S CAUSE OF DEATH, STILL NO ARRESTS MADE
Nearly two months after the naked body of social media star Alexis Sharkey was found on the side of a Texas road, the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences have announced the death was a homicide by strangulation.
Sharkey, 26, first went missing on the night of November 27. The next morning, a sanitation worker discovered her dead body, which had been stripped of clothing, on the side of Interstate 10 in Houston. There were no visible marks on her body.
Sharkey had spent the morning of November 26, Thanksgiving day, with her husband Tom at their apartment, which is located just three miles from where her body was found. That night, she visited friends for dinner. Her loved ones last heard from her around 6 p.m. on Friday night.
So far, no arrests have been made, but pals of Sharkey's insist she was in an abusive marriage with her 49-year-old spouse. According to a report, the Instagram influencer revealed to friends during an October vacation that her husband was abusing her, and she started to have serious fears for her safety.
"Throughout the trip, he was sending really awful, nasty messages to her," the friend noted. "But one night when she and I were talking alone she said, 'He strangles me and chokes me out and I blackout and wake up on the bathroom floor every single time.'"
Pal Kendra Martin went as far as to say that the couple were headed for a divorce.
"I know they were going through some things," she confessed. "She had mentioned being separated even though they were still living in the same apartment. I actually pulled her aside two weeks ago to let her know I'm here for her, and that I know something is going on because her demeanor had changed over the last month."
According to two friends, Sharkey's husband admitted that they were fighting on the night of her disappearance, but he claims he saw her hop "over their patio fence and into a car." However, it was reported the influencer never drove the car anywhere.
The investigation is still ongoing, with police having yet to name any suspects.
