A 3-month-old baby died in Alabama from blunt force trauma and now police say the child's mother has been charged with capital murder.
Around 10:30 a.m. Nov. 6, police and medical personnel responded to an apartment in Birmingham, Alabama, according to authorities.
Once at the scene, police said they found a 3-month-old boy, later identified as Treymon Jenkins, unresponsive and not breathing in his baby bed.
The baby was taken to Children’s Hospital of Alabama, where he was pronounced dead, the Birmingham Real-Time News reported. Officials said he died from blunt force trauma to the head.
Police said they immediately took the mother in for questioning, but some police stayed at the apartment until a search warrant could be issued.
After an investigation, officials said 24-year-old Jasmine Hutcherson was charged with capital murder since the victim is under the age of 14. Police did not detail how Hutcherson allegedly hurt her child.
Hutcherson was booked into the Jefferson County Jail on Nov. 8 with no bond, authorities said.
