8-month-old baby killed, mother and unrelated man accused of murder

An 8-month-old baby was killed in New Jersey, and two adults, including her mother, are accused of murder.

Joshua Delgado, 22, and Ashley Roman, 20, were arrested on Nov. 9 after an investigation, according to the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office.

Delgado has been charged with first-degree murder, endangering the welfare of a child, possession of heroin with intent to distribute within 500 feet of a park and possession of heroin.

Roman was charged with first-degree murder and endangering the welfare of a child.

On Oct. 25, Delgado, who is not related to the baby, went with Roman and the infant to St. Joseph’s University Medical Center in Patterson, New Jersey.

Based on the death of the infant, prosecutors started investigating and interviewed multiple witnesses.

On Oct. 27, the New Jersey Regional Medical Examiner’s Office ruled the child’s death a homicide, according to the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office. The manner of death has not been released to the public.

Delgado was held at the Bergen County Jail, while Roman is in custody at the Passaic County Jail.
