'Repeat Violent Offender' Shot Four People And Killed One, Baltimore Cops Said
A “repeat violent offender” shot four people, killing one, and now is behind bars, police said.
On Dec. 17, police in Baltimore responded to a reported shooing on West North Avenue.
When officers arrived, they found Derrick Smith, 36, unresponsive and suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, according to Baltimore police. There were all three other people with non-life-threatening gunshot wounds.
Smith was taken to the hospital, where he later died.
Police investigated and in February got a warrant for first-degree murder against Arthur McCaden, 36.
A motive for the shooting has not been released.
He was later arrested in Pennsylvania as he tried to commit larceny in a convenience store, according to Baltimore police. Last week, McCaden was transported to Baltimore and officials charged with first-degree murder.
Police described him as a “repeat violent offender” but did not offer further details.
