Murder Suspect Tried To Flee Police Station After Arrest — He Didn't Make It Far, Cops Say
A murder suspect tried to escape from police station but was apprehended minutes later.
Now, he faces charges for allegedly shooting a man to death.
Around 12:30 a.m. on Jan. 24, Baltimore police officers responded to Eastern Avenue for a reported shooting. When police arrived, they found Chesley Patterson, 44, with a gunshot wound to the chest.
Patterson was taken to the hospital, where he died a short time later, Baltimore police said.
Detectives identified Samuel Wise, 22, as a suspect in the shooting. But investigators did not say how they tied him to the alleged crime. They also didn’t release a possible motive for the shooting.
Wise was arrested on April 12. He was taken to a police station, where detectives conducted in an interview. But, after the discussion, Wise tried to escape from the station but was quickly caught, police said.
He was transported to central booking, where he was charged with first-degree murder.
