A Teen Girl Died Days After She Was Found Shot on a Baltimore Street. Now, Her Killer Will Never Walk Free Again.

A 13-year-old girl was gunned down in Baltimore, and now the man responsible for her death will spend the rest of his life behind bars.
Around 5:20 p.m. on Nov. 7, 2022, Kelsey Washington was shot on East Fayette Street, according to Baltimore police. She was taken to the hospital in grave condition.
On Nov. 12, 2022, the teen was declared brain dead and two days later was pronounced dead.
Police said they used video footage and still photos from the scene to identify 37-year-old Tavon Battle as the suspect in the case. He was charged with first- and second-degree murder.

In November 2023, Battle was found guilty in Baltimore Circuit Court of first-degree murder. Authorities said he was convicted of "indiscriminately" shooting at a car, killing the teenage girl, The Baltimore Banner reported.
On Feb. 6, a judge sentenced Battle to life plus 35 years, with the first 10 years without parole.
