California Basketball Coach In Custody After Allegedly Attempting To Meet Underage Boy For Sex, Police Say
A basketball coach in California is in custody on suspicion of sending illicit messages to an underage boy who he allegedly attempted to meet for sex, authorities said.
According to a Tracy Police Department Facebook post, on April 14, the parent of the minor contacted detectives and claimed the teenager “had been receiving sexually suggestive text messages via a phone app” from his coach, Donovan Zachary London, 21.
Detectives with the department’s Crime Against Children unit began looking into the allegations.
“London’s sexually explicit messages continued throughout the investigation,” police said of the coach, who was with a basketball program not affiliated with a school.
“Believing he was communicating with the child, London agreed to meet the victim in Tracy for the purpose of engaging in sex acts,” police said. “However, he was met by officers from the Special Enforcement Team and detectives from our Special Investigation Unit.”
On May 3, London was booked into the San Joaquin County jail without incident.
Officers executed search warrants in connection to the case and allegedly determined London was in possession of child pornography.
