The Boston Strangler: Evidence PROVES Albert DeSalvo Was The Monster (FPD CASE VAULT)
July 2 2023, Published 9:08 a.m. ET
Any lingering doubts as to the identity of the notorious Boston Strangler were all but erased in May 2013, more than a half century after the killer gripped the city in fear.
New scientific evidence has finally proved beyond a reasonable doubt that convicted rapist Albert DeSalvo is the man responsible for the heinous rapes and murders of at least 11 women.
NO EVIDENCE
Though DeSalvo confessed to the cold-blooded killings, cops couldn't find evidence to support his claims and there were fears the monster was still at large.
But after his body was dug up, DNA extracted from his femur and three teeth matched genetic material in seminal fluid found on a blanket and on the body of victim Mary Sullivan in her apartment.
There was only a 1-in-220 billion chance it came from some other man.
"You would have to leave the universe to find somebody who did this other than Albert DeSalvo," says Boston Police cold case detective Sgt. William Doogan.
Since there is no other biological evidence, the other 10 cases officially remain open. But cops are convinced DeSalvo was behind the 19-month killing spree that began during the summer of 1962 when Anna Slesers, 55, was throttled in her apartment.
Her bathrobe belt was tied in a giant bow around her neck. Her body was positioned in a bizarre sexual pose and another 10 victims were slain in a similar manner.

But the slayings stopped following the arrest of DeSalvo, then a blue-collar maintenance worker, for a series of rapes unrelated to the Strangler case.
While locked up in a prison for the criminally insane, he confessed to the 11 murders attributed to the Boston Strangler, as well as two others.
DeSalvo was sentenced to life in prison for the rapes in 1967. He was stabbed to death in the prison infirmary six years later at age 42.
