Clothing of Brian Luandrie found in Florida park, police and FBI investigators on scene
Clothing belonging to Brian Laundrie was found off a trail in a Florida park he frequented, his lawyer confirmed and multiple media outlets reported.
Laundrie’s parents are at the park and assisting in the search. Laundrie is wanted as a person of interest in connection to the homicide of Gabby Petitio.
But, he went missing shortly after police zeroed in on him in connection to Petito's disappearance.
The clothing was found in Myakkahatchee Creek Environmental Park, which is near Laundrie's home, in North Port, Florida, according to NewsNation. The lawyer declined to comment to the news group on if a body was found.
Laundrie was dating Petito and the two went on a cross-country trip. Together, they posted on social media about their travels. But, in early September, Brian Laundrie returned to their Florida home without Petito.
More than a week later, Petito’s family reported her missing and a massive manhunt unfolded.
Petito’s remains were found in a Wyoming national park on Sept. 19. Laundrie was a person of interest but vanished before police could speak to him. Investigators and internet sleuths have spent weeks trying to find Laundrie.
He also has active warrants for allegedly using Petito’s debit card after her death.
A coroner announced last week that Petito was strangled to death and her death has been classified as a homicide.
