Newlywed Couple in Michigan Charged After Groomsman Fatally Struck by SUV Following Wedding Day Dispute: Cops
A pair of Michigan newlyweds are facing charges for allegedly fatally striking a groomsman in a speeding SUV after an argument, police said.
According to the Flint Police Department, officers recently responded to the 1400 block of E. Hamilton Avenue after a report of a crash involving a pedestrian.
Officers arrived to find the victim, identified as 29-year-old Terry Taylor Jr., severely injured.
He was transported to Hurley Medical Center where he was later pronounced dead.
Investigators learned that earlier in the day, Taylor had served as a groomsman at a wedding, after which he was involved in an argument.
The argument allegedly led the groom, 22-year-old James Shirah, to intentionally strike Taylor while driving an SUV at a "high rate of speed," according to police.
Shirah was charged with second-degree murder.
His bride, 21-year-old Savahna Collier, was charged with accessory after the fact to a felony.
