‘They are Good Boys’: Iowa Brothers Accused of Murder After Father’s Body Found in Ditch

Police say two brothers in Iowa have been arrested after their father was found dead in a ditch by a mail carrier.
Around 12:15 p.m. on April 26, a mail carrier called police after finding human remains while on his route, according to the Fort Dodge Police.
Deputies responded to the scene and found 55-year-old Dennis Jones dead from a gunshot wound, officials said.
Authorities identified 26-year-old Alec Jones and 21-year-old Nathan Jones as the primary suspects in the case.
Officials said they believe the victim was shot at another location before the body was dumped in the ditch.
The victim’s wife and the suspect's mother, Shannon Jones, told KCCI-TV that she was at the home she shared with the three the night before her husband was found dead.
Shannon said she and Dennis got into an altercation earlier in the evening and then she went to bed. “I can’t tell you anything," she said. "I don’t know nothing about... I don’t know.”
According to criminal complaints obtained by WHO-TV, the suspects allegedly planned the killing.
Alec Jones is accused of shooting Dennis Jones “numerous times” sometime between April 25 and April 26 and then moving the body, the complaint claims. Nathan Jones allegedly “conspired, aided and abetted, and worked in concert” with his brother to carry out the crime, according to the document.
While police believe the crime may have been premeditated, the suspects' mother doesn’t agree. “They are good boys," she told KCCI-TV. "This wasn’t premeditated.”
