A high school teacher is accused of texting a minor with the hope to commit a sex crime, police said.
On April 22, the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department in California was notified about a possible inappropriate relationship between a teacher, LaRod Jara, and a student.
Jara was employed with the Colton, Redlands, Yucaipa Regional Occupational Program and assigned to Redlands East Valley High School, according to the sheriff’s department.
He was placed on administrative leave in April.
Investigators said Jara, 49, sent inappropriate text messages to a minor with the hope to commit a sex crime. Further details of the texts were not released.
On June 2, deputies arrested Jara and he was booked in to jail. He was released on $50,000 bond.
Detectives said there may be additional victims and anyone with information is asked to contact (909) 387-3615.
