Gang Member Accused Of Killing 30-Year-Old, Who Was Found Dead In Car, California Cops Say
A gang member was arrested in connection to a murder in California, but not until a brief standoff with authorities, police said.
On March 20, police in Fresno, California, responded to a report of a crash with gunshots heard.
When officers arrived, they found Corey Childress, 30, unresponsive and suffering from gunshot wounds, according to Fresno police. He was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Investigators identified Anthony Munoz, 22, as a suspect in the case.
Last week, police found Munoz in a Fresno apartment. However, he refused to surrender, according to police. Additional police were called, and he eventually gave up.
Officers searched the apartment and found a gun, which was unrelated to the alleged homicide.
Munoz is a member of the Weller Street gang and he was arrested, police said. He was charged with murder, two counts of shooting into an inhabited dwelling and illegal possession of a firearm.
Police have not released a motive for the shooting.
