Police in California were called after a teen was supposedly hit by a train. But when they arrived, they quickly determined the victim was murdered and left at the tracks.
Now, another teen faces murder charges in connection to the death.
On July 25, Fairfield police responded to the tracks around 2:30 a.m. for a boy who was hit by the train, according to the department.
Investigators determined there was no collision, instead the victim was murdered. The teen suffered multiple gunshot wounds, according to Fairfield police.
Fairfield police say the victim has been identified as a 14-year-old local resident. The agency did not release the name of the victim.
Investigators determined another 14-year-old man was responsible for the death and arrested that boy. The suspect's name has not been released.
Police have not detailed what led to the shooting, but they said it was not a random act. There was no gang element to the crime, according to Fairfield police.
