California Highway Patrol K9 officers found roughly $3.4 million worth of suspected methamphetamine following a traffic stop recently.

CHP K9 officers recently attempted a traffic stop of a white Ford F-150 truck on Interstate 5 near Boyle Avenue in the Los Angeles area.

The driver of the truck fled, along highways and surface streets, and officers pursued.

The chase finally came to an end on 2nd Street near Figueroa Street in downtown Los Angeles.

After arresting the driver, a search of the vehicle uncovered a bin filled with approximately 190 pounds of suspected methamphetamine, worth about $3.4 million, along with $5,000 in cash.

"K9 Axel, a 5-year-old Czech shepherd, was crucial in discovering the drugs," CHP said.

The driver's name is "being withheld pending further investigation," CHP said. Police are asking anyone with information to come forward or submit an anonymous tip.
