77-year-old plastic surgeon in L.A. accused of sexually assaulting two female patients

A 77-year-old plastic surgeon has been arrested for allegedly raping two of his female patients while he was treating them at his medical office in California, prosecutors said.

Frederic Corbin, 77, has been charged with sexual battery by fraud, sexual exploitation by a physician, sexual battery and battery, according to the Orange County District Attorney's Office.

Corbin faces a maximum sentence of five years in state prison. He turned himself in to authorities on Aug. 30.

On Sept. 17, 2020, Corbin sexually assaulted one of his female patients while he prepped her for a surgical procedure, according to prosecutors.

On May 14, another female patient went to Corbin’s office for post-surgical treatment, and he is accused of sexually assaulting her during the examination, prosecutors said.

Both women reported the incidents to the Brea Police Department in California.

“Patients entrust their very lives to the doctors who treat them,” Orange County District Attorney Todd Spitzer said in announcing the arrest. “No one seeking medical treatment should have to worry about being sexually assaulted while under a doctor’s care. These women were in very vulnerable situations and their doctor capitalized on those vulnerabilities for his own sexual gratification.”
