Man charged with murder after remains of girlfriend found in remote area of California: police
Four years after a woman was reported missing in California, her boyfriend is now being accused of murder.
The Butte County Sheriff’s Office announced the arrest of Dustin Kimball, 47, last week. He was charged with open murder in connection to the death of Jennifer Moore, 41.
In June 2017, Moore’s family reported her missing to the Glenn County Sheriff’s Office.
In January 2021, a citizen contacted the Butte County Sheriffs’ office and reported finding human remains in a remote area of Forest Ranch. Deputies started an investigation and determined the remains were Moore, according to the Butte County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies from both counties continued to investigate for the past six months and found evidence that Kimball killed Moore. The two were dating before Moore’s death, according to the sheriff’s office.
Authorities did not detail what evidence led them to believe Kimball murdered his girlfriend or a motive for the alleged crime.
Last week, police arrested Kimball during a traffic stop.
