A 64-year-old California woman’s body was found in her apartment by her child, and now police say her other son has been charged in connection to her murder.
On June 24, Francisca Agundez was found dead in her residence by one of her sons, police said.
According to authorities, her son called 911 around 3:45 p.m. and said he had been trying to reach his mother throughout the day.
After not being able to get in touch with her, he went to the apartment and found his brother and his mother’s body in the apartment’s bathroom, officials said.
At that point, a fight broke out between the siblings, police said.
When police arrived, they confirmed Francisca was dead and arrested Marco Agundez, 30, who was treated at a hospital for injuries he suffered during the fight with his brother, officials said.
Fox 5 San Diego reported there was no information about how the victim died or what might have motivated the killing, but court documents show the killing took place on June 23.
Marco remains in jail and is being without bail.
