8-year-old, mom found dead in their California home. Weeks later, police arrest a suspect with no ties to the victims.
An 8-year-old and her 44-year-old mom were murdered in their California home, and now, weeks later, police say they arrested the killer.
The San Bernardino Sheriff’s Office announced on April 14 that deputies arrested Jacob Alan Wright, 19, in connection to the case.
On March 7, deputies responded to a home around 3 a.m. for an unknown problem. When deputies arrived, they found several people with stab wounds, according to the sheriff’s office. Jia Jia, 44, and Ruby Meng, 8, were dead in the home.
A 38-year-old friend was taken to the hospital and recovered from her injuries.
Investigators say the suspect entered the home and stabbed the victims in a bedroom before fleeing through a sliding door, according to the sheriff’s office. Two other family members were sleeping inside the home and were not injured.
Detectives have not found a relationship between Wright and the victims and say the motive is unknown.
Authorities say Wright acted alone in the attack. The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information about the crime or Wright is asked to contact police at (909) 387-3589.
Deputies charged Wright with murder and attempted murder and he is being held without bail.
