Around 12:30 a.m. Sept. 20, the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office said a deputy was conducting a business check when they found an unresponsive female lying face down in the Starbucks parking lot in Millbrae, California.
According to authorities, the woman sustained major injuries and an investigation showed the woman had been hit by a vehicle.

An investigation began and surveillance camera footage showed a gray BMW SUV hitting the victim at a high rate of speed and then continuing to run her over several more times, officials said.
A deputy located a BMW SUV at a residence about a half-mile from the parking lot. The SUV had damage from a recent collision, authorities said.
Officers spoke to 23-year-old Garrett Young at the home where the BMW was parked, police said. Police determined he was the man driving the SUV.
Based on the interviews and the evidence gathered, police determined that Young purposely hit the victim, authorities said.
Young was arrested and booked into the Maguire Correctional Facility on an attempted murder charge, authorities said.
Officials said the victim remains in critical condition.
