Man raped an 8-year-old girl after breaking into her bedroom, cops say

A California man broke into the bedroom of an 8-year-old and sexually assaulted the child, police said.
Aroudn 7:30 a.m. Aug. 6, officers from San Jose, California, police responded to a report of an unknown man who had entered the home and sexually assaulted a girl who was under the age of 10, according to the agency.
ABC 7 News reported that the victim was 8 years old.
The suspect was a stranger with no prior associations to the victim, according to San Jose police. The suspect was chased out of the residence by a family member, police said.
Officers began circulating the surrounding area looking for the suspect, based on a description, according to San Jose police.
Around 9 a.m., a patrol officer found a man matching the suspect’s description walking in the area. The suspect was identified as Dupree Kenneth Hornsby, 24. He was detained and positively identified by family members of the victim.
Hornsby was booked at the Santa Clara County jail. The Santa Clara County District’s Attorney’s Office charged Hornsby with eight counts of felony sex crimes against a child under the age of 10.
"This nightmare of a crime has shaken all of us," District Attorney Jeff Rosen said in a statement, according to ABC 7 News. "The alert police officer who saw and arrested this predator just hours later, and before anyone else was hurt, is a credit to the badge and our community."
